New Emerging LA Events - June 24, 2024
I will keep this one short, given I will be leaving shortly for the event tonight in Santa Monica, and then go back and do it again tomorrow.
Based on the sign ups, it seems I will meet many of you there!
One other note is a new event that I put down below, where I will be hosting a private event at my home with the theme of Friends & Family Round.
This is literally for those who I personally know and want to get to know better.
It is in partnership with the Wharton Black Alumni of SoCal along with organizations MLT & Toigo.
It is the 2nd year that I have done this, and is meant to truly deepen connections and build family ties amongst our community.
For those who want to come, reach out to me, and for those who have already received invites… please know that +1s and +kids are encouraged!
This will be a fun 4th of July holiday.

Come to an LA tech community happy hour, where you will meet founders, investors, and operators excited about emerging technologies in media. Discover how emerging companies will shape the future of creativity and the media industry, relating to content creation, IP, royalties, and ownership.
The co-hosts are Wharton Digital Asset Club's Brandon Hoffman (Sunset Ventures) and Timothy Khoury (Lightspeed Faction).
The speakers are leaders from Xsolla, Hashed, Spaceport, and Republic Crypto.
Michael Dershewitz (COO/Head of Corp Dev at Xsolla): Xsolla is the gaming business engine to help devs & publishers operate more effiiciently. Michael was the former executive at Arca and Amazon Web Services, with roles at Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, and McKinsey early in his career.
Jun Park (Sr. Investor at Hashed): Hashed is a team of blockchain experts and investors. Jun is the Head of Gaming and is based in LA, covering the US region for the Korea-based fund. His finance career began at Hanwha & Citi.
Le Zhang (Founder/CEO at Spaceport): Spaceport provides tools for creators to monetize IP in the metaverse. Le is a repeat founder and had an exit with the acquisition of Squadle and holds 4 patents in IoT, ML, and computer vision.
Maria Chak (Head of BD at Republic Crypto): Republic Crypto supports builders with advisory on web3 strategy, tokens, and smart contracts. Maria was Republic's gaming & metaverse lead after years at JPMorgan as an early member of Onyx (JPM's blockchain project).
Friends & Family Round: LA Summer Social (Thursday 7/04)
Come join us for the 2nd Annual Summer Social to bring together the BIPOC community for a family-friendly social with games, swimming and great company.
This event is organized by the Wharton African American MBA Alumni of Southern California and the Renaissance Civic Club and is put on to bring alumni and friends together.
